Linda Mason is a legendary fashion and runway makeup artist. She launched Linda Mason Elements in 1987. Linda talked with models about astrological sun signs and noticed a striking similarity between models of each sign and decided to research it further. “With makeup I like to not just accentuate a woman’s beauty but also her personality, so what better way to do it than combining colors and textures to accentuate the attributes of a woman’s sign,” Linda said.
Each limited edition astrology moodkit contains 4 eyeshadows, 1 blush and 1 lip color. “All colors combine to accentuate the most attractive qualities of an individual’s birth sign. You can either wear your own sign or another sign to take on the attributes of that sign for an evening out. To get the full effect of the kit, you must not mix the colors with the colors of another sign, but you can add eyeliner. ‘Moire’ Grafittigel liner is a great addition for Leo and Libra” Linda stated.
Linda Mason Elements original 80’s packaging was inspired by her astrological drawings. Linda worked together with Delano Harwich of Primary Packaging to find the exact colors, layering, embossing and hot stamping to make each box an art piece in itself. Only 600 kits were produced and can be purchased on Linda’s Astro Makeup website.
Premiere Makeup Artist Thalita McDonnell applied my makeup using the Virgo palette inspired by my Virgo astrology sign. Each color in the kit represents something but it is the combination that creates the magic. The yellow sand is a soft earthy color, and the turquoise enhances and brightens the yellow undertones often found in Virgo’s skin. This draws attention to the beautiful expression in the eyes. The other eye colors included are earthy tones. The turquoise can also be applied as a dot of bright color or just brushed over the earth colors. Applying the Virgo palette works to bring out the more fun, loving, and playful nature of the Virgo sign (something often very hidden) as opposed to our seriousness.
Thalita applied my makeup beautifully and I love how the colors accentuated my playful nature, from the inside-out, helping to show the world who I truly am! Makeup can be a magical thing.
