Santana Row is my go-to spot in Silicon Valley to dine, shop, and mix/mingle.
I was excited to attend the Franco Mexican Dinner at Left Bank Brasserie on Santana Row. Winner of Top Chef Mexico 2016, Rodolfo Castellanos Reyes hosted the event. He brought to life his Oaxacan dishes featuring south of the border flavors.
Chef Rodolfo hosted the dinner event on Left Bank’s festive patio along Santana Row. The evening began with a cocktail reception – meeting Chef Rodolfo while savoring passed appetizers. All guests later sat down at a long table to enjoy a 5 course prix fixe dinner.
We dined on the following items:
1. Aperitivo Tostada De Guacamole Y Chapulines
Crispy corn tortilla, Guacamole, grasshoppers.
2. Primero Molotes De Plantano Macho
Plantain croquette, tomato & chipotle pepper sauce, double cream cheese.
3. Segundo Pozole De Pescado Y Chicharron
Pan roasted California wild sea bass, hominy soup, Chicharron.
4. Tercero Chichilo
Braised Wagyu boneless short ribs, roasted onions & peppers, Oaxacan herb blend.
5. Postre Maiz Y Champurrado
Corn cake, champurrado parfait, pinole foam.
I was a little hesitant to try the grasshoppers included on the tostada, but ended up being adventurous and going for it. I must say, The grasshoppers were seasoned very well.
Everything was delicious, but if I had to pick a favorite it would have to be the Wagyu beef. It was very tender and it’s texture was like butter! The roasted onions and peppers were cooked to perfection! The dessert featuring ice cream with hints of chocolate & cinnamon and a corn cake was out of this world, just amazing! I completely understand why Chef Rodolfo won Top Chef Mexico 2016! He gets my vote too!
I had a wonderful time at the event and highly recommend it! Left Bank Brasserie hosts dinner events often, to view their event calendar click here. The restaurant’s environment is fun & French..always a good time! Left Bank switched things up for this event, making it Mexican Themed as Chef Rodolfo previously worked for Left Bank. He came back to his roots!
Took Over Santana Row’s Instagram to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the event. Below is the Instagram Story:
