Bricoleur Vineyards is an exciting new family-owned winery, tasting room, and culinary showplace nestled in the Russian River Valley town of Windsor. The 40-acre estate features a pavilion, pond, bocce ball courts, and a stunning rose garden to wander. “Plant to plate” culinary experiences are offered that showcase the agricultural bounty found in Sonoma County.
Chef Evan Castro formerly of Healdsburg’s Chalkboard and Brass Rabbit leads the culinary program and he teamed up with Garden Manager, Mikey De Paulo and Winemaker, Cary Gott to create a “Sip & Savor” experience that includes a sampling of six wines paired with six fresh, summery bites using ingredients from the estate gardens. The menu is subject to change based on the seasonal selection.
If you have some room at the end of your Sip & Savor experience I’d suggest picking up a pie from the wood-fired pizza oven. There’s a chef making pizzas topped with vegetables grown in the estate garden.
Bricoleur Vineyards offers a wine dinner series and I experienced a “Summer Catch” themed one and it was a wonderful evening of unforgettable seafood and wine pairings. The dinner took place in a stylish 10,000-square foot winery barn and we were seated at a table next to the kitchen so we could watch the Chef in action! The place settings were very elegant and each featured a pastel colored napkin with a printed menu tucked inside.
After a delicious dinner, we walked back to the Milk Barn, a newly renovated two-bedroom retreat that’s decorated in a European farmhouse style. When you walk inside you feel like your in a wine barrel as the wood ceiling is curved. Due to high demand, renting the Milk Barn is limited to Founders Club members and Équipage Club members.
The Milk Barn features a gourmet kitchen overlooking the Olive Grove along with a deck overlooking the rose garden. I was excited to find a wonderful selection of local goods on the counter, a very thoughtful touch! It included a basket of eggs from the coop onsite, a loaf of bread from Costeaux French Bakery in Healdsburg (one of my favorite spots), Bricoleur fig jam, Bricoleur estate olive oil, and a bottle of Bricoleur bubbly.
Overall, the service was spectacular, the staff was very knowledgable, and the “plant to plate” themed culinary experiences were world-class! On top of this, Bricoleur Vineyards is a wonderful property to wander and take in the idyllic Sonoma County countryside.
