Cedar Crest Cottages is a collection of modern and luxurious boutique vacation cottages that overlook Lake Tahoe’s West Shore. Being a Godfather movie fan, I was thrilled to find out that the cottages are a stones throw away from the house where The Godfather: Part 2 was filmed!
The designers of Cedar Crest Cottages, Olson-Olson Architects, were inspired by the many birds that inhabit beautiful Lake Tahoe and as such each cottage is named after one of the native birds to Lake Tahoe. Inside, each cottage features a unique color palette, custom wood or stone flooring, and distinctive furnishings. There is also a walking path to the lake which is nice for enjoying a sunset. At this time of year, it was wonderful watching the beautiful colors of the trees reflect on the water.
I stayed in the Chickadee one bedroom cottage which was very spacious and includes a private bedroom with full en suite bath. The large living space includes a guest bathroom and fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, stovetop/oven, toaster and coffee maker. It’s fully stocked with utensils, dishes, pots/pans, etc. There is also a washer and dryer with complimentary laundry pods. Nice to have all the essentials onsite when traveling!

Pan Roasted Day Boat Scallops with Raviolis – Christy Hill
We cooked a couple of meals at our cottage but also went out to explore Tahoe’s restaurant scene. We found that Sunnyside and Christy Hill are both great lakefront restaurants serving delicious comfort food. Sunnyside’s vibe is Tahoe meets Hawaii – I especially enjoyed the mai tais and hula pie! At Christy Hill the vibe is romantic with the twinkling lights hanging from the ceiling. Their pan roasted day boat scallops with raviolis are a favorite!
It was my first time visiting Lake Tahoe in the Fall and noticed it’s far less crowded than the Winter/Summer. The trees are beautiful autumn colors and easy on the eyes!
During the day, there are some many things to do and places to explore in Lake Tahoe! One of my favorite places to visit is Emerald Bay, it’s breathtaking and a great place to capture some #Instaworthy photos!
In the evenings though, nothing beats sitting by the fire pit and roasting marshmallows for s’mores! Luckily Cedar Crest Cottages has a wonderful fire pit provides the necessary skewers to do just that!
Overall, Cedar Crest Cottages is a cozy retreat for both couples and families. I look forward to visiting again!
