Nestled in the heart of San Luis Obispo is Hotel Cerro. It embodies SLO’s unique local character combined with the contemporary design of a boutique hotel. Hotel Cerro offers guest rooms, suites, and residences that were designed with a clean look that utilize natural materials throughout. Built to LEED Silver specifications, it’s environmentally friendly and has spectacular service!
The Garden Suite I stayed in was spacious and has direct access to the remarkable edible garden that’s bursting with flavorful produce and herbs that’s beloved by the chefs and bartenders at Brasserie SLO.
The Garden Suite features a free-standing bathtub that’s quite modern and water flows from the ceiling into the bathtub like a waterfall. Spa Cerro’s own line of natural botanical amenities are provided for guests to enjoy.
The custom in-room pour over coffee was a nice amenity in addition to complimentary refillable water bottles. Make your way to the intimate outdoor sitting area with a fireplace, the perfect spot to chill and chat.
Foodies love dining at Brasserie SLO restaurant serving modern coastal cuisine with an emphasis on creating a casual French dining experience. There’s a wood-burning oven and wood-fired grill – all items are cooked to perfection!
One evening, we dined al fresco on the Mission Fig Patio and devoured:
Grilled Spanish Octopus with sauce romesco, pickled shallots, charred lemon, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Mary’s Pasture Raised Chicken that’s fire roasted and served with braised mushroom & farro ragout, and confit chicken leg.
Snake River Farms 14oz NY Steak served with sunchokes, whipped avocado, pickled Fresno chili, and broccolini chimichurri.
We settled our sweets tooth with a pecan tart from the Sweet Life of Pie.
The cocktail menu is on point and the drinks are beautifully presented! One evening, I had a fancy Spanish G&T that’s a concoction of aromatic gin, violette liquor, upscale tonic, and herbs from the hotel’s edible garden.
The following afternoon I chilled by the rooftop pool and had an incredible Blood Orange Margarita. There’s cabanas and lounge chairs on the pool terrace that’s perfect for relaxing while taking in the views of the surrounding hills and countryside.
San Luis Obispo bike trails begin outside the hotel’s front door. Explore the city at your own pace on one of the hotel’s complimentary Hotel Cerro bikes. If you’re into hiking, check out Bishop Peak and Montana de Oro trail.
Situated halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Hotel Cerro is a spot for luxurious road trippers to stop at! It’s also close to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo campus so visitors have a luxurious oasis when in town visiting students.
Overall, my stay at Hotel Cerro was truly wonderful and unique. It’s an elevated luxury boutique hotel experience that embodies the heart and soul of SLO.
