Perched high on a mountain and surrounded by sculpture gardens, appealing fountains, and breathtaking views…Artesa Winery is the jewel of Napa Valley’s Carneros region.
During my visit at Artesa, I was lucky to have the entertaining and very knowledgable tour guide, Freddie Lambert. He greeted our group with his warm and personable personality that paired swimmingly with a glass of Artesa’s 2013 Grand Reserve Brut and chai truffles. Freddie then took us on a site tour of the grounds and barrel room. He provided a very educational experience about the winery and its history. I learned that Artesa translates from Spanish Catalan as “craftsmen”. It’s name is appropriate for its wonderfully “crafted” wines. Artesa focuses on producing small, ultra-premium lots of the varietals for which the Carneros and the Napa Valley are best known – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
After the site tour, we were guided to Artesa’s glass-enclosed private dining room for a Tapas and Wine Pairing. Freddie filled up our wine glasses and briefly educated us about each wine and the tasting menu. Each plate was beautifully presented and included meats, cheeses, veggies, fruits, bread, and chocolate. The food and wine pairing was delicious and a very memorable experience. I can’t wait to go back to Artesa in the near future to try their other unique food and wine pairings such as the Caviar/Tulip Tasting Experience, Chocolate Indulgence, and Pintxos and Wine!
If you’re planning your next Napa Valley Trip, put Artesa at the top of your list! From the exquisite views, beautiful architecture, and unique food & wine pairings…it’s an experience you will always remember!
For my first time visiting a winery, I will say that my visit it Artesa was really warm (coincidentally it was 93° outside) and welcomed. My date and I had a great experience and I’d be willing to do it again!
This is definitely a winery not to miss! LOVE Artesa, definitely one of my favorites. I will be back! Thanks for the info.
