The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel is a San Francisco gem – it’s sleek and modern yet has a rich history. Located just steps from the upscale shops of Union Square and the lively theater district, it’s the perfect base for exploring the City by the Bay.
In late 2019, the hotel underwent an extensive renovation and today guests are welcomed by sophisticated changes. The guest rooms are classic yet contemporary. I personally stayed in a Deluxe One Bedroom Suite that was incredibly spacious, luxurious, and has wonderful views of the city. With a large living room, dining area, bedroom, two bathrooms, and a walk-in closet it has that WOW factor! The hotel offers a wide array of amenities and engaging experiences. For example, there’s a Peloton Package where guests have the opportunity to experience a Peloton bike ride in their fitness center or do a ride in the comfort of their own suite.
One of my favorite lounges in San Francisco is The Redwood Room that’s located inside of the hotel and it’s infused with glamor and Art Deco style. There’s luxe redwood paneling and original artwork by Austrian painter Gustav Klimt adorn the walls. With the renovation, The Redwood Room has been polished and refreshed, preserving its storied history and seductive ambiance.
Other updates include the introduction of Fredericks, a new eatery and café, a newly reimagined Spanish Suite event space, and completion of the façade work on the exterior of the building.
Overall, the Clift is a unique hotel that uncovers the past and embraces the accelerating pace of the future.
