The Crawford
The Crawford Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel located inside Denver’s historic Union Station in LoDo (lower downtown Denver). It’s perched above the station’s Beaux Arts-style Great Hall that’s filled with restaurants, bars, and shops. It’s one of the most bustling places in the downtown and you could easily spend a whole day there without wanting to leave.
Union Station still remains an Amtrak train stop, and it’s surely one of the coolest spots along the historic California Zephyr for a layover. Also, Union Station remains a transit hub. Did you know that you can take it directly to the airport? Pretty sweet, huh?
While at the Crawford, I stayed in a Classic Guest Room that featured high ceilings, a muted palette and luxurious finishes. It also includes a polaroid camera and film that guests can rent and be artsy.
The Oxford
Just around the corner is The Oxford, Denver’s most historic hotel that opened in 1891 and was one of the first hotels in the downtown. Guests can lounge in comfortable accommodations and be surrounded by welcoming staff. In the evening, the hotel hosted a bourbon and whiskey tasting in the lobby that featured local brands. It was fun to sample them and explore their different characteristics. If you get hungry, head downstairs to the Urban Farmer right next door. It’s quite a popular spot in LoDo!
The Maven
My last night in Denver was at The Maven, a uniquely crafted hotel located at Dairy Block. I hadn’t heard of Dairy Block before and learned that it’s the city’s newest cultural hub and micro-district featuring exciting restaurants, inventive cocktail bars, and charming shops. I stayed in a Craftsman King room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a walkout balcony patio overlooking the city and Rockies Stadium. What a view!
I had a great time in the Mile High City! If you’re a city person that also loves the outdoors, Denver is the place for you! Expect adventures in The Rockies, awesome craft breweries, wonderful restaurants, and a young interesting crowd.
Denver is such a fun city. Thanks for sharing your awesome experience.
You sure pick the best places to stay. I’m ready to visit Denver now.
