Vintners Resort located in the Russian River Valley is a luxurious escape that offers guests a central location to explore the best of Sonoma County.
Upon arrival, you will notice lush and well-maintained grounds. Ivy crawls up the buildings and fountains dot the property providing an oasis-like feel. A vineyard borders much of the resort and gives guests a sense of isolation though only minutes from an airport and bustling town.
Vintners Resort has everything one needs so they don’t need to leave. This includes the Vi La Vita spa with five treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor hot pools, a fitness room and retail shop. The outdoor pool at the spa tends to be a gathering spot for guests looking to socialize or soak up the sun.
John Ash & Co. restaurant located onsite offers world-class cuisine and local wines in a beautiful setting. My boyfriend, Matthew and I dined al fresco on the patio and was blown away by the white glove service and delicious food. We started out with a couple of appetizers, the calamari fritti and endive salad. For our mains we indulged in Rocky Brick Chicken and Braised Boneless Prime Beef Short Ribs Braciole. If you’ve got some room at the end of your meal I’d suggest trying their cheesecake.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for something lighter and more informal, The Front Room bar and lounge hosts daily happy hours and has a small plate menu. If you’d like to take a bottle back to your room, there is also a reasonably priced wine list for in room consumption.
When it comes to the accommodations, each room at this peaceful slice of Sonoma County comes with views of a surrounding vineyard, courtyards or gardens. They are fully equipped with all the amenities to have a very comfortable time – whether you’re using it as a base for exploring, or settling into a comfy weekend of indulging at the resort.
My suite was well appointed and came with its own terrace, fireplace and massive rainfall shower. In the early evening, the terrace made for a great place to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset. At night you’ll find the bed is so comfy that it may be hard to get up in the morning!
As for activities nearby there are a variety of breweries and vineyards to visit. For breweries I’d suggest Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa or Lagunitas in Petaluma.
Overall, Vintners Resort offers spectacular service and it’s an all round perfect spot to base yourself while visiting Sonoma and the surrounding wine country. That said, beware as the resort is so nice that you will have a hard time planning anything outside the property!
