Experience the thrill of off-roading in an iconic Land Rover Defender with 4×4 Adventures Scotland.
We went on a half day Loch Lomond guided off-road driving adventure and it was exhilarating!
Being a “wee lassie”, at first, I was intimated to off-road in such a large car, but our kilted guide, Chris educated us thoroughly about the vehicle and techniques for tackling steep inclines, declines, and rock crawls.
Knowing that 4×4 Adventure Scotland’s guides are highly experienced and qualified by the British Off Road Driving Association (BORDA), I knew I was in very safe hands!
Chris was a brilliant character, with great knowledge of the area. With lots of stories and banter, you’ll feel like you have an old friend showing you around! In addition, we appreciated the delicious Scottish chocolate bars and bottled water Chris brought along for the ride.
On our off-roading adventure, we discovered two areas. The first spot overlooked Loch Lomond’s islands and the second overlooked Loch Long.
When off-roading to the viewpoint overlooking Loch Lomond’s islands, the terrain became increasingly challenging. The higher we rode up the mountain, the views of the islands became even more spectacular!
After, we made our way to the second destination overlooking Loch Long. It’s a very remote area and drivers’ skills are really put to the test on the steep and rocky off-road tracks. The rocky road was worth it as the views were breathtaking!
One has the option to chose between a 1/2 Day or Full Day and guides at 4×4 Adventures Scotland are happy to tailor itineraries to suit your taste! It’s helpful to have a quick chat on the phone beforehand as they can advise you on spots to off-road in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
In addition, 4×4 Adventures Scotland offers complimentary collection around the village of Luss, or they can collect and return you from your accommodation within 10 miles of the village for an additional £20 each way.
Off-roading in Loch Lomond was a fun and adrenaline rushing experience that I will never forget!
