Set between rocks and sea is Bellevue Syrene, a Relais & Châteaux hotel that’s located in the most picturesque corner of Sorrento. It was built upon the ruins of a Roman villa and is steeped in history.
When I pulled up to the hotel the sparkling blue waters of the Bay of Naples with the majestic Mount Vesuvius as a backdrop immediately caught my eye. The hotel’s interiors ooze Italian elegance and feature Sorrento’s dazzling palette of sugar-sweet pastels, sea blue, and grass green. I especially loved the Venetian chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows that beautifully frame the blue of the sea and the sky of Sorrento.
Overall, there are fifty luxurious rooms and suites that are light, airy, and the majority of them have balconies that overlook the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. Those wanting an ultra-luxurious accommodation should opt for the Roccia Suite that’s built into an ancient Roman Cave and has its own private Jacuzzi pool.
Each morning I looked forward to breakfast on the Villa Pompeiana terrace, the perfect setting to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast! Poached eggs and omelettes are made to order, but one can help themself to a European-style breakfast buffet.
In the afternoon, I stopped by the Club Lounge for a light bite to eat. Every day from 10am – 9pm complimentary snacks and refreshments are laid out for guests to take.
There’s a restaurant on site, La Pergola that features a dreamy, wisteria-draped, sea-facing terrace. The colors and scents of the Mediterranean is the focus of their menu.
A highlight of the property is sea access at the bottom of the cliff. Swimming in the ocean was delightful and there’s plenty of sun loungers so guests could lay out and enjoy the Sun of Sorrento. There’s also a solarium pool overlooking the sea that’s perfect for bathing to cool off during the hottest hours.
The hotel is also perfectly situated to explore the sites of Sorrento on foot. Guests can explore the nearby ancient ruins of Pompeii as well as head to the picturesque Positano. If you’re up for an excursion, Capri is a short ferry ride away from Sorrento.
Overall, the decor, stunning views, wonderful service and sense of history at Bellevue Syrene make it an extraordinary place to rest, relax and recuperate away from the modern world. The had part will be leaving!
This sounds like an absolute dream!
