Located on a 72-acre private peninsula on the Athenian Riviera, Grand Resort Lagonissi is a haven of relaxation that’s surrounded by the captivating blue waters of the Aegean Sea. It’s a dreamy resort that seamlessly blends into its surroundings.
If you’re looking to make an entrance, one can fly to the resort in style via helicopter as there’s a helipad. Also, it is close to the Athens International Airport (20 minutes) and the port of Piraeus (50-60 minutes). Although the city of Athens is a 40-minute drive away and the historic sights may beckon, some travelers may never venture beyond the resort as it has everything one would possibly need and more! With a spa, award-winning restaurants, well positioned coves and beaches; at this idyllic location guests can experience relaxation at its finest.
I stayed in a seaside Junior Suite featuring a private outdoor pool and glistening views of the coastline. It has an open-plan bedroom with a living room and walk-in closet. The luxurious bathroom features a shower / steam room combo and a spacious jet bathtub. There’s also a fitness area with a variety of equipment so one can tighten up before slipping into their swimsuit.
From the moment I arrived the service was wonderful and personalized. Arriving at the hotel late the first evening, I was whisked by golf cart to my room. Upon arrival, I was pleased to find a wonderful spread of food and a bottle of Champagne to enjoy – a sweet start to my stay!
The following day, I called Reception to inquire where the store was onsite to buy sunscreen and other items. Instead, the Receptionist asked what I needed and a staff member personally delivered the items to my room. I was very impressed by the resort’s kind and attentive service!
Besides fantastic service, the resort has a variety of award-winning restaurants, ranging from Italian to Asian cuisine. One evening, we dined at the Captain’s House, a cliff side restaurant serving contemporary Mediterranean cuisine alongside mesmerizing Mediterranean views.
My boyfriend, Matthew and I started out our meal with a refreshing Aegean Gin & Tonic then indulged in the following fine starters:
Lobster │ Burrata │ Micro Greens │ Olive Oil │ Tomato Gel
Foie Gras │ Basil │ Toasted Homemade Bread │ Piment d’Espelette Gel │ Kumquat Confit
The restaurant’s wine list is quite extensive and many of the wines were Greek. A Sommelier helped guide us through it to find a bottle of red wine that would pair perfectly with the slowly cooked lamb for two. We settled for the Portes Merlot, a dry red wine from the Peloponnese region. The lamb was brought tableside and carefully carved for us. The flavorful lamb and well-rounded wine were a delightful pairing!
For dessert we shared the following:
Pavlova with Wild Berries │ Forest Fruits │Strawberry Ice Cream
Creamy Chocolate Tart Grand Cru │ Ice Cream with Fève Tonka
During our meal there was a live band playing soothing melodies, adding a chill and romantic vibe. We were even serenaded by a lovely singer who sang a tasteful set of classic tunes. Overall, the meal was superb and the service was great.
Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Grand Hotel Lagonissi! Two nights was not long enough so I look forward to returning in the future.
Please note: Grand Resort Lagonissi is a seasonal hotel and accepts reservations from the end of April through October.
