Inn Above Tide

Seeking a luxe stay on the bay? Look no further than Inn Above Tide in Sausalito. Perched right above the bay and overlooking the San Francisco skyline, the Inn showcases some of San Francisco’s best attributes.

This intimate Sausalito waterfront hotel has 33 rooms and suites with mesmerizing views. With floor-to-ceiling windows and decks with glass railings it allows for sweeping views of the bay. Sights include the San Francisco city skyline, Alcatraz, Angel Island and Marin Headlands. The soothing sounds of gentle waves and the sight of sailboats gliding gracefully across the water puts you in a relaxed state of mind from dawn to dusk.

Upon arrival in the Panorama Suite, a sleek room that I stayed in for the weekend, a bump bar awaited me. It’s one of the fanciest happy hours I’ve had that featured a custom caviar kit and a bottle of 2012 Dom Perignon Champagne. To be enjoyed in-room or taken on-the-go, the caviar kit is packed in a cooler and includes 1 oz. ACCA White Sturgeon Caviar, water crackers, crème fraîche, and a couple of pearl spoons.

Designed with a keen eye for aesthetics, every aspect of Inn Above Tide exudes a sense of understated luxury. The rooms are adorned with contemporary furnishings that perfectly complement its coastal surroundings. The attention to detail in the suite was evident, from the cozy wood burning fireplace that added warmth during chilly evenings to the floating gardenia blossom placed in a glass bowl daily and exuded an exotic fragrance. 

Each morning, I started my day off on the right note soaking in a free-standing spa tub with views of the Bay and lathering myself with Bulgari toiletries.

Waking up in the morning, a extensive complimentary continental breakfast was delivered to my room and I enjoyed it on my own private deck with serene and unobstructed bay views. Morning delights included a selection of quiches and fresh pastries, locally-roasted coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, yogurt, granola, and seasonal fruits. White glove service and impeccable presentation made it feel like a proper treat. 

Guests also have the option to enjoy breakfast in the Drawing Room. At sunset it transitions from coffee to the hotel’s daily wine and cheese reception featuring wonderful wines. 

Beyond the enchanting Inn Above Tide, Sausalito offers a delightful array of experiences. Exploring the town’s charming streets one will stumble upon art galleries, award winning restaurants and cafés.

There are many outdoor adventures to be had, from hiking the nearby Marin Headlands to taking a ferry to the historic Angel Island or Tiburon, immersing yourself in nature’s beauty. For those seeking a taste of San Francisco’s vibrant culture, a short ferry ride transports one to the heart of the city, making for an unforgettable day trip. The ferry is located right next to the inn, it doesn’t get any more convenient!

Intimately connected to the village of Sausalito, the Inn Above Tide is a minute’s stroll to galleries, restaurants and shops. The scenic vineyards of Sonoma and Napa are just a short drive north.
