Nestled on America’s oldest continuously inhabited street in the heart of Santa Fe, is the Inn of the Five Graces, an enchanted escape that’s associated with Relais & Châteaux. Once you step through its doors, a feast of colorful art and intriguing Afghan and Tibetan artifacts awaken your imagination. The name, “Five Graces”, refers to an Eastern concept — the five graces of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. Each needs to be honored in the full experience of life.
Designers Ira and Sylvia Seret, transformed a cluster of traditional adobe buildings into a unique inn that showcases their combined creative talents. The Seret’s are internationally-known importers of exotic antiques, rugs, textiles and architectural elements. In addition to the inn, they own the antique store, Seret and Sons in downtown Santa Fe that houses one of the largest and most unique collections of central and south Asian imports and antique Tibetan furnishings in the world.
Each of the twenty four suites within the inn are unique and showcase handcrafted artisan pieces and one-of-a-kind treasures from the historic Silk Road that once linked Europe and Asia – the Seret style’s trademark synthesis of East and West having spent much time in Afghanistan.
Each bathroom is magnificent and features vivid hand-laid tile mosaics that invite you for soothing soaks by candlelight that encourage guests to reflect, rejuvenate, and relax. Double sinks, deep soaking tubs, and showers are adorned with intricate scenes made out of colorful tile.
Each room has a kitchenette that’s well-stocked with complimentary refreshments and snacks. Breakfast is delivered to guests’ rooms each morning and is quite delicious!
Wander the secluded stone courtyards with soothing fountains and lush foliage. Then make your way to town and discover Santa Fe’s one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. Be sure to stop by the restaurant, Sazón that’s located right around the corner for an incredible meal that includes a variety of unique moles.
Be sure to experience the inn’s Tibetan inspired spa. Their treatments incorporate herbal compresses, Himalayan salt stones, aromatic towels steeped in Santa Fe herbs and flowers to nourish your skin, relax your mind and transport you to a different state of being.
Overall, The Inn of Five Graces is a unique experience that melds Afghan motifs with the surrounding Santa Fe adobe in an eclectic but supremely satisfying manner.
