Located in the heart of California’s bucolic Edna Valley, MarFarm was previously a horse stable and dairy barn that has been converted into a rustic yet modern 3-bedroom, 4-bath vacation rental that’s equipped with everything one could possibly need!
From the moment I drove through the custom-designed gate to the moment I left, every moment was magical!
Set amongst a backdrop of rolling hills, vineyards and stunning sunflowers, MarFarm is a sanctuary on California’s Central Coast. It comes with beautiful horses, alpacas, goats, hogs and chickens. Also, MarFarm welcomes booked guests to bring their horses as well.
MarFarm is owned by Hamish and Jill Marshall who own multiple properties in San Luis Obispo; Hotel Cerro, SLO Brew, Slow Brew Rock, Rod & Hammer’s, SLO Stills, SLO Brew Lofts and Quiky Car Wash. In the kitchen there’s a fridge full of complimentary SLO Brew beers and Rod & Hammer cocktails for guests to help themselves to. It was fun to sip and sample their various brands’ beverages!
While at MarFarm, everywhere you look you’ll notice incredible attention to detail – from the layout of the ranch to custom fixtures and Moroccan tiles. The kitchen is perfect for entertaining and features premier appliances and a luxe 17-foot marble island. Guests can use the Sonos sound system to set the mood while the Bali “cow head” lighting wall adds a fun, playful vibe!
Adjacent to the kitchen there’s an outdoor space that’s perfect for barbecuing, bocce ball, corn hole, and sitting around a fire. Each of the three bedrooms are well furnished and come with their own TV, fireplace, and bathroom. Also, two of the bedrooms have direct access to a deck featuring a seating area with a fire pit and views of rolling hills and farm animals.
If guests feel like going out they can visit wineries, beaches, or travel 15 minutes down the road to SLO’s charming downtown featuring shops, restaurants and more.
When at MarFarm I felt like I was in a dream. It’s the perfect place to slow down, enjoy yourself and celebrate life. As of yet, I haven’t found another farm in the area that’s sweeter or swankier than MarFarm!
Next time I visit SLO, I plan to check out MarFarm’s sister property, MarCasa. It’s a spacious private studio guesthouse with high end amenities and gorgeous views.
