Held for the past 33 years, Passport to Dry Creek Valley brings together wine lovers and foodies for a weekend of tastings at 30+ wineries, chic events, and all-around good vibes.
I started off passport weekend at the historic and picturesque Madrona Manor for a winemakers dinner. The evening was a feast for the senses, with elegant decor, fine cuisine, and perfectly paired wines creating a magical ambiance. Guests had the opportunity to mix and mingle with renowned winemakers, industry experts, and wine enthusiasts, all while swirling and sipping wonderful Dry Creek Valley wines.
One of the highlights of the weekend was a gourmet brunch at SingleThread Farms. This three Michelin-star restaurant is known for its hyper-local, farm-to-table cuisine, and the brunch they prepared for Passport attendees was no exception. Guests started out with gourmet scones accompanied by lemon curd and butter. The main course was quite delightful, Ibushi-Gin Smoked Salmon with Komatsuna Ohitashi and Seasoned Koshihikari Rice. It paired nicely with local white and rosé wines that were being poured.
Speaking of wine tastings, one of the wineries we visited during Passport weekend was Ridge Vineyards. This winery is perched on a hilltop overlooking the Dry Creek Valley, and the views alone are worth the visit. Ridge Vineyards is known for its iconic zinfandels and cabernets, but they also produce delicious rosé, chardonnay and more. To pair with their fantastic wines, Ridge served mini Beef Wellingtons that were absolutely divine.
As we explored the valley, we stopped by Quivira for live reggae music and a stroll in their stunning garden. They served delightful small bites to accompany their wines.
We also stopped by Dry Creek Vineyard and indulged in their delightful spring pea risotto accompanied by rosé. Various other wines were on pour as well.
All in all, 2023 Passport to Dry Creek Valley was a weekend to remember. From the exquisite brunch at SingleThread Farms to the breathtaking views at Ridge Vineyards, every aspect of the event was stylish, educational, and just plain fun. If you’re a wine lover or foodie, I highly recommend adding this event to your bucket list. Until next time, cheers!
