Located in the heart of Napa Valley, Rancho Caymus Inn in Rutherford is a gem of a hotel that serves as the perfect base to explore California’s wine country.
Recently renovated, the Inn was originally designed and built by the Morton Salt heiress, Mary Tilden Morton. With a unique story behind it, the Inn has done a great job of incorporating historic Californian design aspects while simultaneously keeping guests comfortable within modern amenities.
Throughout the property, beautiful tilework, tapestries and woven basketry decorate the halls and rooms. All these design aspects help set the vibe of a cozy Californian rancho – complete with a plunge pool and jacuzzi.
Inside the rooms, you are greeted by beautiful vaulted wooden ceilings, a fireplace and living area. The bathroom was quite cool as the shower featured stained glass windows which let a dazzling array of colors in.
Some rooms come with their own balconies where you can catch some fresh air in the morning while sipping some delicious Equator coffee that can be delivered to your room with your breakfast. Speaking of which, breakfast comes included with your stay. Guests can pick from a variety of delicious options including bacon, eggs, yogurt & granola, as well as my favorite, a Model Bakery English muffin. With a delicious breakfast, you will be ready to conquer Napa!
If you’d prefer to stay onsite, the plunge pool and jacuzzi in the courtyard offer a nice spot to spend your time.
If you’re looking for something to eat, Rutherford Grille (one of my favorite restaurants in Napa Valley) is just next door. If it’s wineries you are looking for, you merely have to walk across the street! The location of the Inn is excellent for exploring the Rutherford area and beyond.
Overall, I was very happy with time at Rancho Caymus Inn. The design creates an ambiance of history and class that flows throughout the property. The location is fantastic, the service was attentive, and the breakfast was delicious. When looking for hotels, if you can hit all the marks for food, location, service and ambiance, you’ve found a gem – Rancho Caymus Inn is just that!
