Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I’ve always held a deep appreciation for the San Francisco Ballet, a pioneering dance company with both national and international acclaim. Established in 1933, it stands as the oldest professional ballet company in the United States, consistently pushing boundaries in the art form and contributing to cherished cultural traditions.
This year, I had the privilege of attending the San Francisco Ballet’s Opening Night Gala, an annual event that inaugurates the season in grand style. The gala is a sophisticated gathering where guests present their most exquisite attire, drawing in a discerning and impeccably dressed audience. With the theme “Pandora: Curiosity Unveiled,” many guests were dressed to the nines in creative couture.
Before the performance, guests indulged in a “sparkling stroll,” savoring caviar, hors d’oeuvres, and generous pours of Schramsberg Blanc de Blancs. Amid vibrant conversations, a sumptuous three-course feast unfolded at City Hall.
Following dinner, attendees crossed the street to the War Memorial Opera House for the performance, offering glimpses of the upcoming season’s repertoire.
The night concluded with a vibrant after-party at City Hall. There was a live DJ, dancing, and an array of delectable culinary offerings and beverages.
Overall, San Francisco Ballet’s Opening Night Gala was a sensory-rich and unforgettable experience.
