If you’re seeking an idyllic escape on California’s Central Coast consider Whisper Valley Ranch. It’s set on 160 acres of caves, creeks, and hiking trails.
After driving along a private road we met a peaceful oasis in the woods. Entering the luxe yet rustic cabin was almost like stepping into a Pinterest board. The decor was cool, creative, and every last detail was incredibly thoughtful.
A welcome basket awaited us in the kitchen and it included an array of delightful amenities – bread from a local bakery, farm fresh eggs, jam, bath salts, and Whisper Valley Ranch branded postcards.
The cabin has two bedrooms, spacious bathrooms, and a second loft area that’s located above part of the living room. Each night, I melted into my bed as it was very comfortable and fell asleep to the sounds of crickets chirping and owls hooting. The master bathroom has a freestanding bathtub that’s perfect for a long soak. Another cool detail is that the double vanity sink which is made from a tree that was on the ranch!
Though you are remote, the cabin includes many modern luxuries. Even in the woods, the WiFi was perfect and even worked well for Zoom calls! There’s also a Google home hub, a NEST thermostat, and washer and dryer that’s available for guests to use.
Outside, there’s a large table set below towering trees strung with twinkle lights, creating an enchanting and romantic ambiance. The cowboy cauldron is great for grilling, and in the evenings it’s a nice place to unwind and gather with others. There’s also a bocce ball court, horseshoe pits, a hammock, and swing.
Whisper Valley Ranch also offers experiences for guests where one can hire a private chef to cook a meal and enjoy workshops on the property like jam making sessions with Hartley Farms. Other options include photography sessions, hikes, olive oil tastings, and craft cocktail courses by Yes Cocktails.
Even though it’s easy to spend the whole time at the ranch, there are many activities and adventures one can experience nearby. For example, kayaking around Santa Margarita Lake or visiting a local beach such as Avila Beach, Morro Bay, or Pismo Beach. If you’re a wine lover, Paso Robles is worth a visit and is a short drive north. Also, San Luis Obispo has a cute downtown and is a fun day trip!
Overall, the hosts were very responsive and helpful in answering questions ahead of the trip. Prior to my stay they provided me with a guidebook that was very thorough and detailed.
Whisper Valley Ranch is truly a gem and I can’t wait to visit again!
