Escape to Skomer Island
Go on a sea safari to Skomer Island where adventure awaits! The island is best known for its Puffins, yet there’s so many more birds to see including Manx Shearwaters, Razorbills, Gannets, and Fulmars. On top of that, you may even spot seals, porpoises and dolphins playing just off the coast. It’s quite a site to see!
If you’ve got time, I’d suggest taking a hike around the island in order to see all the wildlife as well as geological features. It takes about 2.5 hours, but it’s a great bit of exercise broken up by great sights and scenery.
Eat, Play & Stay at Trefloyne Manor
Set in the Ritec Valley, near the known seaside town of Tenby, Trefloyne Manor is a wonderful spot for a relaxing stay in Pembrokeshire. If you’re a golfer, their course is a wonderful set of perfectly manicured holes. After golf, settle in for a relaxing day at the spa followed by an evening dinner overlooking the course. I’d suggest something off their fresh fish menu. I personally had one of the best lobsters of my life at their restaurant!
Finally, settle in for the evening in one of their well appointed lodges or rooms. I found the design of the rooms to be a perfect mix of old and new features. I particularly liked the classic exposed beams paired with modern fittings.
Indulge in comfort food while looking at gorgeous views at Runwayskiln
Located near the National Trust site of Marloes Sands, a fantastic Welsh beach, Runwayskiln is a great stop for a midday lunch or afternoon pint. The Coastal Cafe pairs great food with great scenery and is well worth a visit. May I suggest the FLT (Fish, Lettuce & Tomato) and cauliflower pakora? Don’t forget dessert either – their onsite bakery turns out some delicious treats!
Wander around Dale
Located in Southwest Pembrokshire, Dale is a quaint Welsh seaside town that seems to be a step back in time. Here you can rent or boat wind surfboard for a day of sailing on the protected bay. If you still have some energy, put on your hiking boots and explore one of the many coastal walks. At the end of all this, settle down and have a pint with a view and a bite to eat at The Griffin.
