Folktale Winery

Folktale Winery & Vineyards is an idyllic setting to discover and enjoy the great wines, food, and hospitality of Carmel Valley. It’s like walking into a fairytale with its whimsical decor and dream like landscape that surrounds it. The winery’s name was inspired by the thrill of discovery, the joy of gathering, and the idea that every great bottle of wine holds a story.

I visited Folktale Winery & Vineyards for a tour and lunch. Upon arrival, I was warmly welcomed on the wine patio with a complimentary glass of brut bubbles.

Folktale’s menu’s focuses is food & wine pairings and offer small bites that pair beautifully with the wines of Folktale. All ingredients are locally sourced from the Monterey Peninsula.

Heirloom Tomato & Melon Salad paired with 2017 Folktale Estate Rosé

Fry Bread Margherita Pizza paired with 2016 Folktale SLH Chardonnay

Shorty Get Down Flatbread paired with 2016 Le Mistral Grenache

After lunch, we meandered around the beautiful property and visited the winery’s five acre vineyard, barrel room, and cellar room. Artists and bands that performed at Folktale have autographed the barrels.

Folktale Winery & Vineyards is committed to sustainable farming practices for all of its wines. Their vineyard is 100% organically farmed and their focus is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

It’s easy to hang out at the winery for hours with corn hole on the lawn and cozy outdoor seating area – a great spot to gather with friends. Next time I visit the winery, I’ll attend one of their events – live music every weekend in addition to concerts and special events every month.
